Categories help you organize your money flows into income and expense buckets for cleaner bookkeeping and reports.
Creating categories. Each category is either Income or Expense. You can create top-level categories and subcategories, and give a top-level category one of 12 colors and an icon so it is easy to recognize. A default set of categories is created for you when you register.
Using categories. Assign a category to a transaction or a payment, either one by one or in bulk. Categories power the Dashboard charts, Budgets and the P&L report.
Rules (auto-categorization). Set up rules so transactions are categorized automatically — for example by wallet, by counterparty, or by matching text in the memo/note. Rules run in priority order, you can preview what they will match, and apply them to existing transactions. VaultNow may also suggest rules for you.
Archiving. You do not delete a category — you archive it. Archived categories stay on past transactions and reports; use the Active / Archived / All filter to manage them.
